Who we are

The App is published by Buzen Technologies (“we,” “us,” or “our”). This policy applies to the Know the Word app on the Apple App Store and Google Play. If you have any questions, you can reach us any time at info@buzentechnologies.com.

Information we collect

Know the Word is designed to work without an account and without you handing over personal details. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or contacts to use the App. The limited information involved falls into three categories, described in the sections below:

• Data stored on your device - your progress, settings, and study history.
• Anonymous usage analytics - aggregate information about how the App is used, to help us improve it.
• Purchase information - handled by the app stores when you choose to support the App.

Data stored on your device

The App is offline-first. Your learning data is saved locally on your device using your operating system’s standard on-device storage. This includes things such as:

• Your progress through the Scripture Atlas, quizzes, and exams
• Study streaks, daily activity, and personal statistics
• App preferences - theme, font, text size, Bible version, reminders, and language
• Your Supporter status, so premium features stay unlocked

Analytics

To understand which features are helpful and where people get stuck, the App uses Google Firebase Analytics. This service collects anonymous, aggregate usage information such as:

• App events and screens viewed (for example, starting a lesson or completing an exam)
• General device and app information - device model, operating system version, app version, and approximate region/language inferred from device settings
• A randomly generated installation identifier used to count unique installs

This information is not tied to your name or identity, and we do not use it to contact you. It helps us measure feature adoption and reliability in aggregate. Analytics data is processed by Google; see Google’s Firebase Privacy & Security and Privacy Policy for details on their handling.

Purchases & subscriptions

Know the Word is free to use. You may optionally become a Supporter through an in-app purchase (a one-time Lifetime unlock, or a monthly or annual subscription) to unlock premium themes, fonts, and certification features.

All payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play - not by us. We never see or store your full payment-card details. The stores confirm to the App whether a valid purchase exists so that premium features can be unlocked. Your transactions are governed by the privacy policies of Apple and Google.

The App may also invite you to leave a review through your device’s standard app-store review prompt. Whether you respond is entirely up to you, and any review is handled by the app store.

How we use information

We use the limited information described above only to:

• Provide the App’s core features and remember your progress and preferences on your device
• Unlock and maintain Supporter features tied to your purchase
• Understand aggregate usage so we can fix problems and improve the experience
• Keep the App stable, secure, and working as intended

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
• We do not show third-party advertising in the App.
• We do not require an account, email, or password.
• We do not collect your precise GPS location, contacts, photos, or microphone audio.
• We do not upload your personal study history or quiz responses to our servers.
• We do not use your data to build advertising profiles.

Third-party services

The App relies on a small number of trusted service providers. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies:

Some Bible translations may offer an “Open in” link to an external Bible app or website. If you follow such a link, you leave Know the Word, and the destination’s own privacy policy applies.

Your rights & choices

Because the App stores your learning data locally and does not maintain an account, you remain in control:

• Reset your data - clearing the App’s data or uninstalling it removes your on-device study history.
• Manage subscriptions - view, change, or cancel a Supporter subscription in your Apple App Store or Google Play account settings at any time.
• Limit analytics & tracking - your device offers system-level controls (for example, iOS “Allow Apps to Request to Track” and Android ad/usage settings) that affect analytics identifiers.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the EU/UK GDPR or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) - including the right to access, correct, or delete personal information and to know how it is used. Since we do not maintain accounts or store personal study data on our servers, most of this information already lives only on your device. Children’s privacy

Know the Word is suitable for a general audience and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. The App does not require personal details to use, and it does not include behavioral advertising. If you believe a child has provided personal information in a way that concerns you, please contact us and we will address it promptly.

International users & data transfers

The App is available in multiple languages and regions. Where anonymous analytics are processed, that processing may occur on servers operated by our service providers (such as Google) in countries that may differ from your own. Those providers maintain their own safeguards for international data transfers, as described in their privacy policies.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the App evolves or as laws change. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be communicated within the App. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
